La Forza Del Destino at Greek National Opera La Forza del Destino’s six-minute overture contains many of the musical motifs that define the tragic relationships that will unfold throughout the opera and some of its most memorable music. We filmed the cast in full costume portraying the family backstory and suggesting why the relationships are motivated by revenge and honour. This was projected onto the painted front cloth to establish the atmosphere and motivations prior to revealing the action and was returned to in detail during scene changes throughout the piece. In addition, the video design during the acts provided the filmic backdrop to the landscapes and the events as they unfold. All the video content was filmed and edited for use in the video design and collaboratively programmed and integrated into the set and lighting design by the creative team. It was also the third of four collaborations between Rodula Gaitanou and Dick Straker using projection to support Rodula’s vision of the production. La Boheme Giacomo Puccini at @malmoopera Puccini’s tragic classic is transported to 1960’s New York and the pop art scene of Warhol’s Factory. Marcello is the film maker in the artist’s collective and his experimental output the video design of Dick Straker. Dick worked with 16mm film and 35mm photography in the 1980’s club scene in London and the visions of Marcello’s output are based on a working knowledge of a similar setup. The projection design resulted in a close collaboration with Cordelia Chisholm to ensure the video technology is hidden whilst we see the functioning film technology working on stage. ELF The Musical was touring the UK and the US in 2025 and it is coming back in 2026 Elf The Musical, inspired by the hit film, is the hilarious and heartwarming tale of Buddy, a young orphan child whose life is changed forever when he mistakenly crawls into Santa’s sack of toys one Christmas Eve. When he discovers he is human, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and, in turn, helps the Big Apple rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. MESMER has been working with @princesscruises since 2023 to design the public spaces aboard two of their largest ships - Sun Princess and Star Princess. The latest generation of cruise ships are filled with spacious, open public spaces - all of which include large scale LED screens, all of which are active 24/7. The result is an installation piece that runs on it's own internal schedule, varying from day to day and continent to continent, slowly shifting and adapting to the mood of the day, with specific states geared towards intimate cocktail evenings, sunrise sessions, and late-night parties, and broken up by 'Glockenspiel moments' - audiovisual animated sequences that activate the spaces, turning them into clockwork calendars, butterfly houses or magical gardens. We provide technical planning, programmers and on-site crew, and off-site support for both Sun Princess and Star Princess, and also various shows deployed across the Princess cruise line.
