A Kelp-tastic 2026 Aquaculture Lab!
Between visiting an oyster farm, touring two salmon enhancement facilities, pressing seaweed for the UAS herbarium, dissecting oysters, and inoculating microalgae students were BUSY during this 3-day lab intensive. Students came from across the state and country to learn about the current and growing industries of Alaskan Aquaculture. Big thanks to all those who attended in addition to our community partners for giving our students the opportunity to learn from Alaskan industry professionals.

Percebeiros: héroes del mar en la costa gallega 🌊👣
Pocos oficios en el mundo transmiten tanta fuerza, respeto y tradición como el de los percebeiros. En Galicia, cuando el mar ruge con furia y las olas golpean con rabia los acantilados, hay quien se lanza al abismo para recoger el oro negro del Atlántico: el percebe. 💎🌊
Cada jornada es una lucha entre la vida y la muerte. Los percebeiros, con neopreno, casco y garabato, desafían el océano en busca de este manjar único. No hay lugar para el error. Se agarran a las rocas mojadas, esperan el momento exacto entre ola y ola, y con manos firmes recogen los preciados percebes. Solo quien ha visto el mar en Costa da Morte o en O Roncudo en plena faena puede entender la valentía y sacrificio que exige este trabajo. 💪🌬️
Ser percebeiro no es solo una profesión. Es una herencia, una forma de vida, un vínculo profundo con la naturaleza y con la cultura marinera de Galicia. Aquí, el mar no es solo paisaje: es familia, sustento y tradición. 🌊❤️
