In #Somalia, nearly half a million children are facing starvation — the result of compounding crises: drought, displacement, and devastating aid cuts. "People have nothing to cook." Misgaal, a camp leader for displaced families, had to borrow pasta from a shop so one family could eat. He watches parents bring children to health centers just to get a nutritional biscuit—the only food they'll have that day. "They are living such a harsh life... You can find families who did not cook yesterday or today." Mercy Corps is providing life-saving assistance while investing in livelihoods, clean water, and other support for displaced families. But massive funding shortfalls have forced us to cut critical programs — meaning fewer children treated for malnutrition, fewer families receiving food, fewer health facilities able to provide care. However, the next chapter is still being written. Act now to help by tapping the link in bio. #HumanitarianAid #MercyCorps #WorldNews

As food shortages persist and nutrition funding has been cut in southeast Somalia, Nurta, left, has relied on tea and powdered milk to feed her surviving twin. Communities already facing crisis are being hit with new economic shocks as the conflict in the Middle East disrupts global food, fuel, and fertilizer markets—pressures felt most acutely where families have the fewest buffers. And with farmers entering planting season, the increased cost of fertilizer today impacts food supply for families tomorrow. The war in the Middle East doesn’t only impact the countries in conflict, but produces ripple effects around the globe, hitting already crisis-stricken countries like Somalia, Sudan, and Lebanon especially hard. Mercy Corps is calling for urgent action to protect families’ ability to feed themselves and their children and support farmers before key planting windows close. Without faster, more flexible support, the economic fallout from the war will drive hunger deeper—and further—than the conflict itself. Donate today by tapping the link in bio.

After more than two years of continuous bombardment, displacement, and severe restrictions on land access, Gaza’s agricultural system has effectively collapsed. New analysis by Mercy Corps shows that only 4% of cropland in #Gaza remains both accessible and undamaged by the ongoing war, leaving farmers and the community at large at risk of long-term insecurity. Even in a ceasefire scenario, recovery will be severely constrained by contamination and ongoing restrictions on essential services. As a result, Gaza’s population is likely to remain heavily dependent on external food assistance for years to come. Our experienced Palestinian team in Gaza is on the ground—delivering food, cash, hygiene supplies, clean water, shelter kits, and psychosocial support to their communities. But thousands of additional lifesaving kits that could reach over 160,000 more people remain blocked by the Israeli government. Families can’t wait. Give now at the link in bio to deliver urgent relief to families in the Middle East and in 30+ countries around the world:

Families shouldn’t have to wait for crisis to get support. On her recent trip to Kenya, our CEO Tjada D’Oyen McKenna met with farmers whose livelihoods are being threatened by worsening drought. But she also saw something else: innovation changing the story. In Turkana, farmers are leaning into aquaculture to diversify and adapt—building on a foundation Mercy Corps helped to establish. And in another part of Kenya's drylands, our impact investing arm Mercy Corps Ventures launched a pilot that uses satellite data to detect early signs of drought stress, getting cash assistance to families before they lose livestock or income. Tjada’s message is clear: anticipatory action isn’t just smart — it’s the future. As climate change accelerates, families deserve support that reaches them before disaster does.

#Sudan is currently facing one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world. But even in the middle of conflict, #farmers are showing up — ready to grow, ready to invest, ready to feed their communities — if given the chance. Mercy Corps, alongside our partners, has spent years building the conditions that make farming possible even in the hardest conditions. What we've learned is that recovery isn't one-size-fits-all. Where stability exists, markets can lead. Where conflict is present, sustained support is the only solution. Swipe to see what our work looks like on the ground.
