When the Louvre reopened after the war in 1945—pulling priceless pieces hidden away in castles during the occupation, it dedicated an entire room to French folk arts—humble objects of daily and rural life. Treating popular art with the respect given to fine art was a guiding principle of Georges-Henri Rivière, a pioneer in modern museology. His work, and others like Rene d’Harnoncort’s and Jack Lenor Larson’s for MoMa who sought to elevate how craft is viewed is on my mind as I work to curate a show on the basketry of the Berber people of Morocco for the YSL museum in Marrakech with @mentzeottenstein

Renew. Realign. Reimagine.
In Volume XIII, architects Mathias Mentze and Alexander Ottenstein from @mentzeottenstein reflect on their rewilding of Dinesen's 19th-century thatched-roof farmhouse in Southern Jutland, which is now used as a guesthouse for collaborators by the century-old Danish wood trader.

New flagship store for @teklafabrics in London designed by us!
Tekla Marylebone opens this week, the first permanent location for the brand outside of Copenhagen. For the project we tried to combine Tekla’s love for clean spaces with our own deep-set interest for detailing and joinery.
The custom-built retail units in cherry wood with panels in British wool create a subtle and flexible environment for the Tekla universe. Vintage Aalto pieces, ceramics by Sara Flynn, a Pierre Chapo bed, Paavo Tynell lamps, all complete the domestic feeling of the space.
Go see it if you’re in London!

We collaborated with @teklafabrics for this 3 Days of Design exhibition at Charlottenborg. Launching their new broderie anglaise collection, we designed beds in walnut and the spatial concept to go along with it. Go visit at Charlottenborg until Friday 20th of June.
