Our Stafford Residence (completed 2020) helped plant the seed of what would become Ment Architecture in 2022. Located in the hamlet of Stafford, 15 miles south of Portland, this home is on an incredible multi-acre parcel, surrounded by lush fields and Doug Fir forests. It was designed for a busy family of 6 and allows for views of its pastoral setting from every room.

We are happy to see our Heritage House in @dwellmagazine featured as a Budget Breakdown. Be sure to give this a read if you want to dig into the budget numbers for one of our houses.
This project holds special meaning: we designed Heritage House for Adam’s parents as their long-term home in the Southwest Washington countryside. Its simple gabled profile references the vernacular architecture of Undredal, Norway—their ancestral hometown—and adapts those forms to the materials, light, and landscape of the Pacific Northwest. We’re honored to see the project featured in Dwell.

We couldn’t be more pleased to see our SW Portland remodel featured in @sunsetmag this week. From the beginning of the design process we had a wonderful collaboration with our clients - a young couple that had recently relocated to Portland. They loved their Mid-Century home but it was in need of some thoughtful reinvention to meet the demands of modern living. We worked very hard to redesign the main spaces to honor the past and to bring character and details fitting of the original structure.
Thank you for the lovely feature @sunsetmag . Link to the feature in our profile.

Rather than defining a conventional front or back, the Stafford Residence is oriented to engage the landscape in both directions, opening to views north and south. Three distinct wings frame a central outdoor patio and fireplace, forming a sheltered gathering space that extends toward the northern landscape.

Studies in cedar detailing at the Alameda Bathhouse.
Hidden gutters and downspouts at the exterior mean the custom-detailed cedar cladding stays the highlight, and triple-glazed European windows ensure an efficient envelope.

Utah Canyon Residence is designed to be a welcoming dwelling that reveals itself in layers. Indoor/outdoor connections are utilized throughout the project in ways that bring in abundant natural light.
Interiors feature real, natural materials, such as cedar, stone, and brass. Heavy, earthy materials give way to lightness as one steps outside.
We're pleased to share that the Tunnelwood Renovation was selected to be a part of the Portland Modern Home Tour on June 6. Get your tickets and come see it for yourself!
This extensive refurbishment rejuvenated a mid-century dwelling nestled within a verdant corner of southwest Portland. The renovated home serves as a sanctuary amidst the forest for a bustling family, infusing their everyday life with tranquility and warmth.
A central stair crafted by @skal.studio is a standout that’s worth seeing in person.

This reconstruction of an existing 1960s home is located on the southern edge of Lake Oswego, just south of Portland. The existing home was deconstructed to the ground level and a new second level is being added - it will feature lake views filtered through towering douglas firs. Designed with intentional connection to the natural surroundings, all three levels of the home have access to outdoor living space.
