Okay we’re back. MOTW is a social experiment not a livelihood so every gathering is quite possibly the last. Or like a total eclipse… the last one in your lifetime. 🌚 We’re thinking of hosting another one this June. Readying the application process. Appointing the selection committee of mostly former community college admissions directors. Looking for men who have a sense of purpose about their lives. Kind. Earnest. Funny. Or at least willing to laugh with others. Men who make murmurs of delight at the sight of meat cooking over an open fire but also don’t mind a nice salad every now and then. Men who feign disinterest in receiving a hand stitched MOTW sweatshirt upon check in but then wear the damn thing every day much to the chagrin of their significant others who think it means “my other team won” or “meatloaf on the weekends.” But they never tell them the truth because we’re a not so secret society, and we have to be secretive at least some of the time. #menofthewoods #motw

Men of the Woods is hard to describe. It’s not a networking event, no one really talks about what they do for a living. And it’s not a men’s ministry, there’s too much bourbon for that. There are weird rituals like shirts and ties on Saturday night and delectable foods spread across large slabs of recently felled trees for the occasion, hello. And we gather for short talks deep in the woods where everyone has a turn. It’s more like a controlled social experiment.
