So good to switch off, have a proper dance, and share some laughs with such a supportive group of mums & female carers. The energy in the room was just incredible!
Thank you to everyone who came and made it such a feel-good session 💃

🌟 A Lifetime of Advocacy: Celebrating Marian Nicholas 🌟
Yesterday was a day for the history books at Mencap. We had the absolute privilege of celebrating Marian Nicholas, our proudest champion and advocate, who received a national honour this week in recognition of nearly 40 years of unwavering support 💪
To mark the occasion, we officially named a playzone in our Children’s Centre after Marian — a space she and our families campaigned tirelessly to build.
Seeing our community of families, committee members, and staff (both past and present) come together was a powerful reminder of what collective passion can achieve. As we celebrate 10 years of the Mencap Centre in Belfast, we aren’t just looking back at the lives changed — we are looking forward to our Mencap 2030 strategy.
We’re building on this legacy to ensure the next decade is defined by equality and equity for everyone with a learning disability.
Huge thanks to everyone who made yesterday so unforgettable. 💖🎉 especially our wonderful musicians 🎵 and to @loafcatering for the beautiful food.
