‘it takes forever’ is out in full today everywhere. thank you to everyone who has already picked up a copy, listened to a song, or has shared a nice comment about it. i took a long break from writing songs after 2019. it felt strange to not have a home for them, something that i’ve had the tremendous fortune of having for a long time. it left me uninspired and unmotivated to know that no matter what i do or what i write, it ends there with me. it will never travel that same well worn path that so many of the songs that i have written in the past have traveled, always becoming more than i ever could have imagined them being by way of that journey. i missed that collaboration, that kinship. to wax less poetic about it, i missed playing in fuckin’ three man cannon. so it took me a while to make this record. probably longer than it should have but then again, compared to what? maybe it took exactly as long as it should have. maybe i needed to think about a lyric for six months, get it stuck in my head, and then change it at the last minute. maybe i needed to sit and think about the last few years for just a little bit longer, let it stew until i felt confident enough to sort out my thoughts on them even though i’m certain that process isn’t complete or if i even got close to it or if i ever will. i do know i’m glad to have done it. it’s a nice thing to be able to do and i appreciate and treasure it. although this version of it may be new to me, it may induce pain at times when it reminds me of what we’ve lost, and it may cause anxiety in the way it forces me to wrestle with the past and the future, i’m still glad to have made it. doing this has always been a source of comfort for me, even when it’s not. but still, despite all of that, i try not to overthink it too much because at the end of day they’re only just songs and if we’re lucky we’ll all be making plenty more of them. thank you for listening thank you to @guffy212 for the photos, the encouragement, and your neverending love and support thanks @jeffpretzel for playing drums and always pushing me to work at this to pat, spens, & dennis - love you

hi. today i’d like to share a song i wrote called “mirror” this was the last song i wrote for the record and it’s only a few months old to me. i made a music video for it and you may notice that a lot of it is “mirrored” and that is because, you see, the song is called mirror so the video has mirrors because the song is called mirror. listen, im trying my best over here ya know? i filmed it when @guffy212 and i went to california a few months ago, it’s nice to look back on it now and enjoy all the colors amongst an otherwise gray season. thank you to gus, allegra, mary, anika, stacy, danielle, scott, teddy & miles for your cameos. also, gentle reminder that i have some tapes available for sale on my bandcamp page. full record out on nov 3rd! i’d like to play a show sometime with these songs, don’t know exactly how yet but just putting it out into the universe! 🆗thanks!

hello! today, tuesday, I’d like to share a song I wrote called “Sugar in Your Cup” for a new project called memorytown. it’s about recognizing and appreciating new developments in life even though they sometimes are not without their own challenges or need to be balanced with things over which you have no control. at least that’s what the meaning was at some point, meanings change after all and what it means to me it probably won’t mean to you. but maybe it’ll mean something? anyway, I made a video for it. I used a green screen but it was too small so ignore the parts of me that disappear. maybe one day I will get a larger green screen. this song will be part of a larger collection of songs called “IT TAKES FOREVER” that will come out on November 3rd, both digitally and on cassette tape. there will be 100 tapes made in total and you can preorder them now on bandcamp. endless thank you to gus for helping me put all of this together and a big ol thanks to @jeffpretzel for playing the drums on it.
