Cactus Pears | 3rd Alternativa Film Festival, Medellín | April 21–30
Anand returns to his ancestral village for ten days of mourning – and finds himself caught between family expectations and the truth he cannot share. As rituals unfold, relatives pressure him to marry, while he struggles with the risk of coming out and isolating his mother when she needs support the most. He finds solace in his childhood friend Balya, who faces similar pressures. As the days pass, their intimacy blooms. With the mourning period ending, will their burgeoning bond survives beyond the ten days? The film explores the delicate bonds that develop under duress and the future of it.
