If you hand sign your pieces, listen up! Using a more blunt tip is a game changer for your signature. By grinding (or sanding) down your pin tool, you get a cleaner, more legible signature. If there are any clay pills, simply wait for them to dry and brush them off. Easy fix!!! Let me know if you try it.
*please be careful grinding any type of metal. Wear protective eye gear. Safety first!!!!!

Since everyone liked the first clip so much, here’s another “in case your pottery teacher didn’t show you”
Do you use dry tongs to dip your pieces? I used to. Try dipping them in glaze first, so you don’t get empty spots that you have to go back later to fix. Let me know if you try it! Follow along for more videos like this

The quality and sharpness of your tools makes a huge difference when trimming! They should be doing the hard work for you, and if they’re not (or you’re getting a lot of undesired chattering), it may be time to sharpen or invest in something new.
Here I’m using @tortugatools The Seven Trimming Tool, and you can also buy a sharpener off their website! I also love my tried and true Kemper KSP4 and my LT5 loop tool.
Happy Trimming!!

Sneak peak into the spring launch! I’ll have more than vases, but I thought these deserved their own spot on the grid 😍 These vases would make such a lovely Mother’s Day gift paired with any flowers. Be honest, how many of those glass vases do you have hanging around never to be used again 🫠
Spring launch date will be some the week of the 20th! Let me know which date works best for you all.
This drop will include vases, travel straw cups, and oil bottles (all featuring a NEW glaze color)

Tap centering is an invaluable skill to have!! I still love my giffin grip, but tap centering is great for so many reasons. If you need to trim on a chuck, trim down to the bat head or shape something that’s a bit off center. It takes a lot of practice so don’t get discouraged! There’s more than one way to learn to tap center, but I hope you give this one a try!!

Creating a small undercut will make wiring SO much easier. You create a tiny lip that leaves enough room for your wire to slide right under. I use my wooden knife tool to cut away excess clay at the base of my piece, then turn the knife inwards to do the “undercut”. Let me know if you try this!!

I used to guess where to slip and score my handles and I would end up scoring the wrong spot. I started marking my handles using slip and attaching them has been so much cleaner and easier since! If you mark handles, how do you do it?
