Since Sunday, on the Swiss border — three cities, three theatres, many kilometres and, on Monday night, even snow.
At the Opernhaus Zürich: Berlioz’s “Damnation de Faust”, with Elina Garančá and our Yves Abel on the podium for his Zurich debut. The following morning, auditions at the Opera Studio and a meeting at the theatre’s offices. In Basel, our Dietrich Henschel in the pre-dress rehearsal of a pasticcio on “Don Quixote”. In St. Gallen, a “Così fan tutte” with Brian Michael Moore — conducted by Pietro Rizzo, who has just been appointed the theatre’s Music Director from next season.
In between: rain, traffic, motorway kilometres.
There is no more direct way to describe this work: being where the artists are.
