This organization in the Garfield Park neighborhood of Chicago’s west side specializes in youth development and violence prevention through equine-assisted therapy and nature-based learning.
These particular images were taken at the culmination of 2 weekslong free day camps for neighborhood youth, titled “Cowboy Camp”. Camp provided nourishing meals and snacks while covering the history of Black cowboys in America alongside daily activities involving equestrian arts: from horsemanship basics to hands-on experience handling and riding horses. Made possible by the generous support of @ilhumanservices and @fieldfoundation .

Oh Joey…you are wild and unruly. You are outrageous and drivey; mischievous, spirited and so full of life I can barely believe it. Last weekend was incredible and it deserves a spot in the grid. @_porkins_ treated me to a surprise falconry experience that was so magical I almost couldn’t believe it was real..
