Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there making magic happen every day. I am so lucky to know so many incredible Moms in my life!
And a heavenly shoutout to my mother - one of the best to ever do it. I miss you every day and know you’re watching us. 🦋
An impromptu reunion of Broadway Audience All Stars at the Nederlander Theater. We met 30 years ago doing the rush line for Rent. This is particularly remarkable since we are all in our extremely late 20s.
Also, Shmigadoon was a blast and this time we skipped our sleeping bags bought tickets like full functioning adults. I guess some things do change…
Some people don’t just teach you a subject. They teach you who you are.
Twenty-five years ago, I sat in a research methods class @tcnj_official and something shifted. It wasn’t the syllabus. It was John C. Pollock
who saw something in me before I could see it in myself and then refused to let me look away from it.
I published a paper as an underclassman because he pushed me toward it. I followed him to his alma mater to study public administration because he opened the door. I discovered a love of numbers, of data, of inflection points — the moments where everything pivots — because of the way he taught.
But the thing I’m most grateful for has nothing to do with methodology or statistics.
He was the first adult who genuinely believed in me. Not conditionally. Not as potential. As someone already worthy of being taken seriously.
That kind of belief changes a person.
Today, he’s retiring. The sash says it all: The Legend Has Retired. And he is exactly that.
To the mentors who alter the course of a life: you may never fully know the weight of what you gave us. But we carry it. Every decision, every risk we took on ourselves, every time we chose to trust our own mind- that traces back to you.
Thank you for being that person for me. Congratulations on a remarkable career!
The @icefat_org Steering Committee descended on Dallas for our mid-year meeting this week. We knew our members would want to keep a close eye on what we were doing, but this felt extreme.
In all seriousness, it is an absolute privilege to serve this organization. I could not be prouder to volunteer alongside this group of leaders who set aside their time and expertise to move this industry forward. The kind of commitment showed by each of these individuals is rare and I don’t take that for granted. I leave Texas absolutely inspired.
Dallas, it’s been real!
It was just another party. A last minute invite from a friend in the industry. “Come to the Bronx Museum gala…they are doing great things.”
It was supposed to be dinner. A small donation.
Six years. Six galas later. I’m here as a Trustee for @bronxmuseum and here is what I know for certain: The Bronx Museum is transformative. For the community it serves and for every single person who shows up to serve it.
Here’s the truth. I’m a working Mom. The Bronx wasn’t my world. I don’t have the obvious ties or the perfect resume. Don’t let your preconceived notions stop you from showing up to causes or communities you believe in.
Show up anyway. Offer what you can anyway. Let it transform you.
Find your community. It’s waiting for you.
And if you can give, please do. I’ve dropped a link in my story to give. Every dollar goes back into this incredible community.

A half-hour train ride. Two different worlds.
Kyoto: steeped in tradition, draped in serenity.
Osaka: vibrant, electric, all bright lights and big energy.
It got me thinking: most of us contain multitudes. Outgoing and energetic in one moment, craving a quiet dinner at home or a rainy day with a cat in our lap the next. Excited by all the things and equally happy doing nothing at all.
Multidimensional. Complicated in the best way.
What a trip.
The canal didn’t have to reflect those blossoms back at us like that.
Japan has a way of reminding you that some things can’t be planned, only received. Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it.
