Last week I went to a really inspiring presentation about the Full Story Initiative at @creativeartistsagency .
In collaboration with Hollywood creatives and nonprofits ranging from @scholarsandstorytellers to @resettingthetable__ and @newamericaorg plus a host of other partners, this online toolkit provides resources, facts and enlightening authenticity for anyone who wants to better understand and more accurately portray the intersectional life experiences of characters and communities.
Authenticity = better writing and more impactful narratives on screen.

I can’t tell you how many horror stories I’ve heard from writers and other folks in Hollywood about bosses who were abusive to everyone around them, and especially abusive to the people who were the most vulnerable – vulnerable because they could be harassed, intimidated and treated poorly with zero consequences for the bully at the top of the food chain, to put it in candid terms.
Deep breath!
I came up in some of those writers’ rooms, and that’s why part of my mission is to change the culture of Hollywood (and the world) (I’m ambitious) to center it around intentional kindness. I’m not talking about being fake-nice or being a doormat, either. I’m talking about specific and spreadable business tactics that get impactful results on a creative, financial and personal level.
Kindness can and will work for you – and I know this from experience.

Confession: I started this account because I’m on a quest to change the culture of Hollywood (and the world; I never said I wasn’t ambitious).
For the past two decades, I’ve been navigating the high-pressure, dysfunctional trenches of the entertainment industry, experiencing the impact of toxic leadership in my early progress up the ranks, and more recently being in a position to intentionally create and implement respectful, humane and sustainable workplace environments *that result in better products and deeper success.*
I’ve been doing this work for years on the executive teams of TV shows and as a co-founder of the @writersguildwest Leadership Training Program.
To counter toxic dynamics & workplace harm, I’ve written a book to share my strategies with everyone who longs for more kindness _and_ for more success in their orbits.
