This 46th trip around the sun my baby made me feel the most loved, I gathered with my Salem woods heads, biked around VB & NFK, thought about moshing with the young people at the punk rock show, and capped off my Beeday weekend spending time with the most important people in my life: my wife & my awesome family.
I found a camera hanging in my garage. I got it during a trip to Chicago maybe 10ish years ago from @lomography . Brian V happened to be on that trip & when I took the roll of film to @littlelightfilmlab I was hoping I’d have some long lost pictures of him. Ten years hanging in my garage with all the temperature changes were not kind, but I got my blurry picture of @villachong just waiting to be developed. I miss that guy. In addition, some pictures of Dale’s first and last Bikepacking trip were uncovered. Dale, Sadie, and I rode from RVA to Chicahominy. Im just glad that the memories from that trip and from that time in my life aren’t nearly as faded as these pictures.

Surprise-Spring hit hard early January and somehow I was riding in shorts. It was some kind wonderful, for sure, but it was short lived and we got the first snow fall of 2026 this past weekend. Forecast says maybe snow this Wednesday? Disgusting. Super Casual Casual Wednesday Cancelled 02/04/2026! Let’s regroup, if the weather gets better who wants to ride Sunday? 2/8/2026?
January Re-cap with a NFK grocery run with my Speciaized AWOL converted into a “cycle-truck” via a Crust Clydesdale cargo fork. This time last year I was recovering from appendicitis. I couldn’t ride for a couple weeks and totally missed all my 2025 mileage goals! This January I made a goal of 100 miles a week & was solid the first 3 weeks. This last week the temperatures were not cooperating at all and I fell short of my goal! It happens. Know your limits, push yourself, & don’t beat yourself up if you don’t make your goals. On to the next challenge.
Who doesn’t like a basket bike? No one. Some people have a need for speed- I have a need for a basket to carry a bag so I could haul crap around on my bike.
I started my bike safety advocacy journey when @lizschleeper invited me to participate in @bikenorfolk757 ‘s efforts with other Hampton Roads advocacy groups to promote the need for bike infrastructure along the stretch of Granby Street between Willow Wood & Wards Corner. I saw that advocating for safer streets worked when the city of the Norfolk approved the project. Shortly afterwards, I joined the board for Bike Norfolk as the communications director. While continuing to advocate for safer streets and participating with community outreach I lead a weekly casual group ride out of @slowsteady.bikesgoods every Wednesday (we ride all year long). Several years later (Dec 2024) @mels_fuel encouraged me to further my bike safety journey by joining NFK’s Bicycle, Pedestrian, & Active Transportation commission. September 2025 marked the beginning of construction on the Granby Street Bike Lanes and I’m proud to have worked towards the adoption of the project by @cityofnorfolkva . 📸: @coopdeville_@cityofnorfolkva
