Introducing EMERGE 2026! ✨ We have Megan O’Brien’s new work featuring freelance dancers from our community: “This piece begins to explore the concept of a ‘soft landing’. Soft landings are actions, connections, or mindsets that have potential to cushion the impact of difficulties, transitions, and stressors. They provide comfort, support, and a gentler way to navigate challenges, whether within oneself or with others. Nadeen Alalami, a writer and neurodivergent advocate, writes: ‘These small acts accumulate. They create ground that is not only survivable but supportive. Soft landings do not erase pain; they do not take away grief or uncertainty, but they make it bearable. They make it possible to fall and not break—to be held in the pain, to gently get up, take a step, and trust again. We are preparing the soil for ourselves and for our communities, recognizing that we can shape change and actively mold our own resilience, not as a performance of strength but as a softening of the fall. By cultivating conditions where falling does not break us, we ensure we do not just have to survive the fall—we can shape how we land.’” EMERGE | JAN 9-10, 2026 7:30pm FRI, 2pm & 7:30pm SAT Leona Wagner Black Box Theatre #dance #moderndance #contemporarydance

I turned into a 30 year old bird yesterday. 🦢 (30 means continuing to become more like myself. Wearing face sunscreen everyday. Continuing to find the courage to give myself immunotherapy injections once a day. Being a better listener. Remembering that soft is strong. Fighting back. Making more dances. Trusting love one more time and always one more time.)
