I tried really hard not to overthink this one and leaned into a loose, imperfect doodle style. I wanted it to feel whimsical and storybook-inspired, with lots of texture, layers, and playful color.

Fun fact: lantana flowers change color as they age, and butterflies can actually see the difference. The brightest blooms have the most nectar, so it’s basically nature’s way of pointing them to the good stuff.

Before this design was even named a Top 10 contender in the Golden Coil Contest, I was already completely obsessed with it and I needed to see it in every color.
I created this design for the contest, but when a close friend asked me to design wallpaper for her apartment, I knew this pattern was the one. So, I created a custom colorway to match her vibe perfectly (the first slide). Then I realized… I needed it in my own home too. That led to a second colorway, which now lives in my guest bedroom (second slide) and honestly, I couldn’t stop there. Creating new colorways for this design has been way too much fun ✨

This is my entry for the @spoonflower Beachy Boho Design Challenge. 🐙
I am currently in Palm Springs where everything feels drenched in warm terracotta, sun-faded pinks, and desert magic. I couldn’t resist bringing those colors into this piece.
I’ve also been itching to create an octopus pattern, and this felt like the perfect excuse to finally dive in (pun intended)
