That was the biggest lie I convinced myself to believe. Because a month later, I was in a 4:30 call on a Friday with my manager (who I really believed was my friend) who told me the words:
“Effective after this call, we’ll be parting ways.”
It’s been over 2 years since and I now know, the second you think you have ~safety~ at your company, you’re a sitting duck.

To become who she is today, she first had to be every single version of who she was yesterday.
I used to think my nonlinear, multifaceted, seemingly-random story was my biggest disadvantage.
I’ve never been promoted at any of my jobs, I’ve been fired, laid off, burnt out. And I used to blame my ADHD for it.
But looking back now, every single twist and turn was meant to happen exactly when it did, and each one led to growth that would not have happened if I stayed put.
The act of becoming is the silent, everyday protest of complacency.
Almost exactly 2 years ago I was fired, burnt out, and jobless.
I had no backup plan, just a few thousand followers on LinkedIn where I shared some data science tips.
Never thinking that I could turn it into a career where I’d get to speak on stages around the world alongside people I’ve looked up to for YEARS (I followed @sundaskhalidd long before I could call her a friend 🥲)
All because I did it scared, tired, and hopeless so many times.
