REVOLT Presents: Medium Sized Dog Lily Day and Lauren Maddison have been writing Alternative Indie music for the last two years. Now joined by drummer Esme Wright and bassist Ben Sidaway, a medium sized dog is truly set in motion. Pulling influences from the likes of Big Thief, PJ Harvey and Jeff Buckley they hold similar values and candidness in their songwriting and instrumentation. Sometimes loud and angry, sometimes quiet and tender but always honest. After the release of their first single ‘Father’s Daughter’ on Small Pond Emerging Vol 5, they make their debut at the Hope and Ruin for Revolt Brighton and hope you will come and howl with them.  @medium_sized_dog_ will be joined by a stacked lineup featuring @narrowlightband @girlapocrypha.mp3 and @lelambband at @thehopeandruin . Today, Small Pond Emerging Volume 5 is released to the world, and as part of it, the debut single from @a_medium_sized_dog is too. Lily played me this song among others on the night we first met, and anyone who has spoken to me about music in the two years since likely knows how much her music and lyrics mean to me. This is another milestone in a journey that started long before we knew each other, but it means the world to have played the small part in it that I have so far. I am so, so proud and grateful to have shared creative space with Lily, Esme and Sarah, and to have gotten the opportunity to be part of laying one of these beautiful songs down on record. Every time I hear this song I well up with pride and love for my beautiful friends and what we have made together. I encourage everyone who sees this to check out the compilation, and I really hope you connect with this first taste of the music Lily and I have on the way. Our debut single ‘Fathers Daughter’ is all yours at midnight as part of @smallpond emerging Volume 5. It’s been a long time coming, but we wanted to do right by such fragile words. I wrote this song when I was 14 and unlike many of the words I wrote then, I have not touched a single one of them since. It’s about seeing the parts of a loved one that you so used to fear as a child, in yourself as you grow older. It’s about the destructive tendencies that then becomes the only thing that allows you to feel close to them. I cannot thank everyone for their kindness and patience with this project but especially to @lauren_the_lesbian and @wrightwhale , that have made this band what it is. Their talents and willingness have taught a dog new tricks that I didn’t think it was capable of. I’m forever grateful and lucky to share a creative space with you both and to call you friends. Thank you to the team @smallpond for the opportunity, make sure you give all the other incredible bands and artists your attention as you have us. To the absolute wizard that is Sarah Ryan, thank you for giving us so much of your time and for always being excited by the possibilities of our music and bringing them into fruition.
