If you’d like to hear more of my nonsensical gibberish with the occasional passionate rambling about my landscape painting practice, the full documentary is now live on YouTube. Bang the link in my bio and get the popcorn ready. @mediastache did a fine job of capturing my personality, and everything that goes in to making a painting come to life.

We couldn’t be happier with this complete, immersive, tunnel transformation by @sofles and @drapl Both @sofles and @drapl are home grown talent that have earned their spot on the international street art stage. This means that, as a city, Brisbane can call on a rich pool of the world’s best to transform and activate our public spaces with world class art. This project was driven by Brisbane City Council staff, on the ground, who wanted an alternative to beige public spaces. @crpennywolff jumped at the opportunity to bring this project to her ward and worked to make it a reality. This represents an exciting step forward for the tunnels and walkways that connect Brisbane. 📍Head down to the pedestrian tunnel under High St. Toowong to experience this immersive artwork. Look for the colour peaking out between The Royal Exhange Hotel and Toowong Village/Toowong Train Station . 🎥 @mediastache . #brisbanestreetart #streetart #brisbane #placemaking #brisbane2032

There’s a reason I’m not normally in front of the camera… A little BTS from a @sofles project. Thanks to @athenainoke for the shots.

Details from Brisbane City Hall. @sofles put down the can and flexed his skills on a brush. To see this piece in person, book in for one of @museumofbrisbane daily tours of City Hall. . 👨‍🎨 @sofles 🎥 @mediastache . #brisbane #brisbanecityhall #brisbanestreetart #streetart @brisbane.lordmayor

Today I forced myself out of my comfort zone and turned the camera on myself! I’m typically not someone who likes attention, but figured the experience would provide insight and improve my story telling. Every day is a school day I guess!

Grit at a glance, but depth if you stay. Only serious when he paints, And maybe not even then. What a privilege to hang out with @_danby and I’m excited for what’s next!

5 weeks in 30 seconds. Whistler was the best place I could think of to celebrate my birthday. I made a video for 80 year old me to reminisce, and it’s on YouTube if you want to punish yourself. Thanks to everyone who made it special!

Big @sofles flexing hard in Brisbane City Hall. Last year, @brisbane.lordmayor was inspired by a piece of history in city hall. During the renovations of city hall, completed in 2013, workers uncovered a wall of signatures. These were signatures that were written, without permission, by World War II soldiers and people who worked in the building in the 40s. This piece of historic vandalism has now had books written about it and makes up part of the free tour of City Hall given by @museumofbrisbane . This got @brisbane.lordmayor thinking about the age-old question of “what is graffiti?”. What is the difference between a tag and a soldier leaving his signature? Does age change it? Is the intent any different? Art is meant to make us think. And as @brisbanecitycouncil moves into an era of proudly championing its homegrown street artists as story tellers of the city what a great opportunity to ask this question. So @sofles was commissioned to paint a mural that celebrates the history of Brisbane City Hall and the people who built it. Look closely and you will see signatures of current chefs, security guards, kitchen staff and cleaners. This piece has a powerful place in my heart. It was an honour to curate and project manage this piece. I felt quite emotional when it was completed. My work with @brisbanecitycouncil started when I told @brisbane.lordmayor that Brisbane was a terrible place to be a street artist. That Brisbane produced some of the world’s best street artists. But we had some of the strictest anti-graffiti laws. We lived in a city that felt more focused on painting surfaces grey and beige than it cared for supporting our local talent. I would have never dreamed of a mural in City Hall. Let alone a @sofles piece with graffiti letters at its core. This mural will stand as a powerful recognition of the new era of Brisbane’s support for street art. It will be proof that Brisbane really does recognise its street artists as story tellers of our city. . 👨‍🎨 @sofles 📸 @mediastache . #brisbanecityhall #brisbanestreetart #streetart #brisbane
