The Future Mammalian Cycle documents a post-human Great Plains region. Here is the map of the story. It is a journey, a kind of cycle, of a fellowship of sentient mammals as they look for a nefarious wizard somewhere along the Mississippi valley. They start and end their journey in Chicago, a future version, populated now by species of all kinds, mammal and otherwise. A cat queen must form this fellowship of mammals with a spirit guide, a glowing androgynous fox who resists the sway of the wizard to help them. Gargantuan beasts float and roam the landscape. A final defense of the city must be executed by the fellowship, who have revived the ancient remains of the internet, as the floating beasts grow closer.
