“FONETIKA” - a MEDMO film
featuring collection SS26 titled “RUGSĖJO PIRMA - UNIFORM”
In Lithuania, September 1st (Rugsėjo Pirma) marks the first day of school, a day held with pride and pressure. A new school shirt cleanly pressed, new shiny black shoes and a blazer or cardigan that I’ll “grown into” were key ingredients for the back to school fit. I explored the idea of uniform and how it was always “off” in a place with so much forced structure and regime. Each look is inspired by a particular character we may meet at school- this film gives us a quick introduction to each character and their energy.
“Fonetika” (phonetics) refers to the narrative- we follow a teacher figure who teaches us the characters names which also seem descriptive to each of them. We hope this film makes you ask yourself; who were you in school? and who do you resonate most with?

I think everyone knows me for wearing a kilt over jeans at any occasion, if anything it’s weird to see me without one so I knew it was time to make the official MEDMO KILT
Inspired by Lithuanian folk clothing and specifically the plaid underskirts with rich textures and colours traditional of the folk dress
The unisex kilt is made in mind of anyone’s style and choice of adjustable buckle or button closure allows for this too

I’m calling this my official directing debut for something other than MEDMO, and it feels so good for it to be a project me and MISFYA were able to work on! Always a pleasure to be able to bring a world to life with friends!
