Ambient music. UGH! So docile and uplifting. I had to fix it. I was driving down the coast in Oregon and thought this would be fun to make! Recorded this over a couple days after Xmas. Check it out!
The amount of must listen metal this year is OVERWHELMING!!
**Wintersun - Storm:** Taking something like 16 YEARS to compete, it’s metal art at its highest form - extreme speed, solos, and epic song lengths with movements that feel like you’re witnessing a classical master. Jari has been my favorite metal songwriter since the first Ensiferum album!
**Múr - Heimsslit:** This came out of nowhere and became a secret favorite (thanks Jan). Much like Moonsorrow, they create overwhelming emotional tracks that embrace minimalism - never rushing because their foundations are so strong you can loop forever.
**Make Them Suffer - Small Town Syndrome:** Want to hear who cracked the metal code? They just make straight bangers with amazing dual vocalists. That’s it!
**Allt - Memory of Light:** The lowest, the heaviest. They’ve turned Thall into its most listenable form yet. The ultra-low riffs and dissonant melodies are eerie and earth-shaking. RIP speakers.
**Equilibrium - Cerulean Skies:** The metal scene in Rivendell. Modern vibes and EDM samples are cool but we all know they’re still Folk to the core - a whole new iteration of their band that’s better than ever.
**Voyager - Submarine:** Not music written for musicians who want to show off, but for LISTENERS who know music can be more than four chords. Always groovy and soaring. They share the Prog throne with Pagan’s Mind.
**Amiensus - The Distance:** Every time I hear them I think about a somber journey through icy north woods, snowfall, and epic dark wizards... but not in a cheesy way! Minnesota boys doing it right.
**Fleshgod Apocalypse - At War With My Soul:** Soundtrack to going FULL VILLAIN MODE backed by an 1800’s Dark Gothic Vampire Orchestra. Pure bombast.
**Falling in Reverse - Ronald:** Feel like I’m in middle school every time I listen because it’s the ultimate dark edgelord soundtrack, but it LANDS. Plus their music video universe is just too cool.
**Mirar - Rose Bonbon:** Like selecting the highest difficulty for your ears. When it hits you feel it. Pushes boundaries to places you’ve never heard before.
