Inner-frame glow up in full effect ⚙️✨
Tried out Gaahleri markers for the first time to add that metallic depth and honestly… I’ve loved every minute of it. They make it so easy to hit all those tiny mechanical details and bring the frame to life.
Even if 80% of it ends up hidden under armour, I know it’s there… and that’s what counts 😌

My PGU RX-78 has been repainted in a more anime accurate colour scheme and is currently sitting on the shelf. I still need to paint the weapons and shield, as well as apply the decals, but I’ll come back to it in the near future, there’s no rush on this one.

1–3:
These shots show the original explosion setup. I built an internal skeleton out of chicken wire, lined it with LED strips, and it gave the blast a genuinely intense, fiery glow.
4–5:
Then disaster struck. One moment of tired late-night stupidity and the whole build went up in flames. I grabbed a lighter to melt a tiny area, blinked and the entire thing caught fire instantly. Honestly, what did I expect?
I managed to rescue the GM, but the rest of it melted right in front of me. And of course… this happened on Saturday morning. One day before the deadline.
6–7:
So I rebuilt the entire building from scratch, coated it in plaster, and let it cure overnight. The next morning I hit everything with the airbrush.

This image is the inspiration I used for the redesigned explosion.

Here’s the new internal frame I built for the cotton-ball blast effect.
The remaining photos show the final result. I kept some of the melted parts from the fire and turned them into debris, which actually saved time and added realism. In the end I installed a small light box behind the scene to illuminate the whole thing.
Going forward, I’m going to add proper LEDs and enjoy the process a bit more.
It was definitely a learning curve; between the panic and the graft, I’m happy with how it turned out and even happier that everyone enjoyed the final piece.

Finally wrapped this beast up! My first-ever diorama, first ever GM, cooked fresh in the chaos of Urban Combat.
Skyscrapers? Check. Explosions? Double check. Questionable decisions at 2AM that nearly sent the whole project to the shadow realm? Oh absolutely. I thought it was over (more to follow 😅) If you know, you know.
But hey, perseverance, caffeine, and a little bit of “I refuse to let plastic defeat me” carried me through.

My GBWC Entry – A Living Composition
For those already familiar, this piece began its life a year ago — composed with natural elements at its core. Over the passing months, I’ve gradually added ferns, moss, and a small juniper tree I’ve been nurturing and shaping by hand.
This diorama isn’t static. It breathes, it ages. It’s forever evolving — exposed to the natural elements, enduring sun, wind, and rain. The weathering you see is a blend of nature’s slow hand and my own early interventions. A collaboration between time and technique.
This is more than a display — it’s a living story.
