Feeling really proud to have had the chance to provide some small illustrations for my Dad’s latest book— a series of 30 curated stories from his popular Native Texan column for the Houston Chronicle. Read about Bass Reeves, the Black Seminoles, Ol’ Bigfoot Wallace and plenty of Texan Women you never learned about in all those years of Texas History we were forced to take. I hope you’ll snag a copy when it’s officially out at the end of July or pre-order it now 🤗 he was also on The Texas Standard today, in case you want to hear the interview about the book!
It was such a joy to be asked to draw some characters for the January-February issue of Austin Monthly— I’ve spent hours and hours as a music fan, an audience member and a “no-thanks-I’m-bad-at-two-stepping”-bystander at all of these featured *haunts and tonks* so this was a fun exercise in bringing some of those encounters to life— Thanks again to @bryancparker for thinking of me! Excited to get to share this fun bandana design I had the chance to draw for @texasarchive — a really incredible organization and the ultimate resource for preserving and studying Texas film— including home movies, local tv and even abandoned footage. Check out their interactive website to find out the history of each of these iconic images! And be sure to donate to TAMI in order to get this piece in bandana form!
