We have a great lineup of new faces in the area and some not so familiar faces so come join us, RSVP for free on Eventbrite (search for Comedy Night In Fremont at Art Freak Studio), this is a donation based show, we suggest $10-20 donation but no one is turned away due to lack of funds, times be tough and we want everyone to be welcome for some laughs so come on down Friday May 22, we are located directly across the street from @nilesflyinga and these comedy shows are kinda their fault so I’m tagging them.
It was yesterday when I started writing this memorial that I attended the service for one of my friends from my school days. Ameet Kapoor and I met in junior high and had a shared love of heavy metal that aligned just enough to be friends yet we debated a lot over our tastes as metalheads tend to do. The guy was a die hard KISS fan and although I could respect the makeup years, I wasn’t hearing it at all during the “Lick It Up” era. We grew to be good friends during freshman and sophomore years as there weren’t many kids our age willing to go to live concerts of the bands we wanted to see. My friend circle kept shifting and Ameet was always down to check out any show of a band we agreed was good.
We saw our first Metallica show at Day on the Green with Soundgarden, Faith No More and Queensryche. We got there early enough to get wrist bands to be up in the front. We saw Nirvana when they played with Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers on NYE. We saw a lowly attended D.R.I. show where an unknown band called Body Count featuring frontman Ice-T tore the roof off the place and buried D.R.I. on their own show. Even met Ice-T while he was chilling in the small crowd during D.R.I. when New Jack City was still in theaters. We saw Body Count again the next year on their own show where Ice-T did a rap set before Body Count hit the stage and that show was packed and as violent as 80s thrash shows to say the least.
Naturally we drifted apart when I was more interested in playing music and as much as Ameet tried to play bass, the man could not play live music to save his life. But that fact never hurt his passion and enthusiasm for music. Although we had different music tastes we still could agree on some bands over the years and I would run into him at a variety of shows as we got older and became middle aged metal heads.

Yesterday was so fucking gay, @iabenson and I noticed we could see the purple and red in the sky’s gayness. Sure hope everyone’s okay in this woke weather pattern
