It was a ‘pinch me’ moment for our 1 to 5 medics @mel.themedic and @doctor.vinci when they met @drzoewilliams to record a podcast for us in London this week
The trio chatted about Foundation Year doctor life, sharing experiences and stories about life at the start of a medical career

#ad My name is Emma and I am a Foundation Dentist!
In my job I work one week in hospital and one week in practice – this means I’ll be a foundation dentist for 2 years.
Something that I’ve found harder than expected is talking money! In dental school all treatment was free, so I didn’t have much experience in chatting about costs. Now it’s something I have to discuss at all appointments.
A highlight for me this year was fitting a denture for a patient who has struggled for many years to find a set that fit. We were both holding our breath as we tried them in!
In the future I want to do more of everything! I’ve especially enjoyed some more complex cases in secondary care, so I’m excited for another 18 months of learning and expanding my comfort zone.
I LOVE that in my job I can help people and make a real difference to their quality of life and confidence. I also LOVE changing patients’ perspective of dentists/dentistry and helping people feel more comfortable in the dental environment.
