Ray and Mark Dalio could be anywhere. They choose to be on the ocean—and more often than not, beneath it.
The father and son have built something remarkable with @oceanx , a global non-profit initiative that is equal parts science, storytelling and soul. In Tatler’s latest cover story, Ray, who also founded Bridgewater Associates, one of the world’s largest hedge funds, and Mark, who leads OceanX as co-CEO, open up about exploring Asia’s most biodiverse and uncharted waters, the awe of encountering life in the deep sea and why protecting the ocean feels less like a cause and more like a calling.

It only feels like yesterday that I asked my best friend and the love of my life to marry me. This past year has been tough with my world turned upside down between Covid and the passing of Devon yet you have been there by my side, the one constant keeping me going through it all. It wasn’t until you learned more about my wild ocean adventures that I first peeked your interest so I thought it was only fitting to bring it full circle by surprising you 1000ft under the sea.
