When You're Giving Me Love was written during a emotionally tough period for me. It's my love letter to the funk psych rock and soul of the 60s/70s. The title has a double meaning, not placing a value on receiving love itself, but reflecting on the experience of receiving it, whether unhealthy or nourishing. With such a massive collaboration pool, it's been both a challenge and a pleasure to have my hands across the entire body of work. I'll never forget the day @takubeats handed me @questlove drums. I did my best impression of 2000s neo soul, and we got the extremely talented @milan.ring to provide guitar and vocals. Writing the chorus/instrumentation and seeing this song come together with these collaborators has been really special to me. It feels like a big milestone that I'm very excited to share with everyone 💙 Tune in next month for 18 more full-length tracks! 🤯
