I spent 2025 learning patience, planting seeds and trusting the process. A Japan trip that started as in idea, CPA exams in progress (passed 2 of 4), a kitten found on the street (couldn’t imagine our life without him), time with people we love, and the purchase of our first home. 💖 In 2026, I’m planting more seeds (real ones in the garden, and even bigger one for the future)

A week ago today, the cat distribution system gave us a new lil guy. We were driving and a tiny little baby animal ran into the street and stopped in front of the car. Devin had me pull over and the little guy ran into some bushes and got caught in the thorns. Devin was able to safely pull him out, but he was bloody and covered in burrs. His momma cat never came out. We rushed him to the vet to get checked out (about 8 weeks old?), got some worm and flea treatments and we took him home. The vet was worried about him being dehydrated, lethargic and maybe contagious with who knows what. For the past week, we’ve been keeping him separate from our big, beloved cat Mambo. Given him lots of food, water, love, play time and cuddles. Today we took him back to the vet for his first vaccination and a blood test & great news! He is (so far) in the clear! He’s already gained half a pound and is signed up for more vaccines and check ups already. And we are keeping him! They gave us the okay to let Mambo meet him, and it went well! He doesn’t have a name yet, but he’s got a lifetime of love and safety to look forward to. Welcome to the fam, bud. 😻

film from our trip pt 3. When we were already a few days into our trip, it was abundantly clear that the first disposable camera I brought wasn’t gonna cut it. That was weighing on me and on a night in Osaka, we went into a giant Don Quijote store in Dotonbori. On some floor I spotted cameras. Lots of disposables were available, many adorning beloved characters like Hello Kitty and Pokémon- but this one camera got my attention. Using Google translate, I figured out that it was a half frame camera with 48 pictures available. The box made it seem like it would present two vertical photos side by side, so I shot the whole roll assuming I was taking vertical pictures. I was surprised and delighted when we got it back and realized that I was totally wrong, and instead was presented with horizontal shots stacked. I realize now that if I had taken them horizontally, they would have come out like 2 verticals. Anyway, I love this roll of film. Osaka/ Katsuoji/ Kyoto / Tokyo

Japan & clocks. When we were in Japan over the last couple weeks, I noticed clocks everywhere and started taking pictures of them. Clocks seemed to be present every time I looked around. Maybe it was because I was in a new strange place and needed something familiar? Or maybe it’s not that deep at all. I just like clocks. Next time I’ll hit up the multiple clock/time museums. It’s clock o’clock! Clock talk!
