Big transformation in Brighton
We recently completed a full site package for the new Mesivta High School of Greater Boston — including demolition, sitework, support of excavation, and utilities.
Our team:
• Demolished the existing structure
• Installed 240 LF of driven support of excavation
• Excavated 4,000+ cubic yards of material
• Installed all new utilities + drainage systems
Our one-stop-shop approach allowed us to handle every phase seamlessly — minimizing delays and eliminating the need for multiple contractors.
Once sitework was complete, we turned the project over to Erazo Concrete to bring the foundation and elevator pit to life.
From demo to foundation — done right.
Brought on by Block Builders as the trusted pile driving contractor, McGue Excavating delivered under tight deadlines to prepare this prominent waterfront deck venue for summer and wedding season.
Originally designed with custom helical piles and long lead times, the project was reworked by our team through value engineering—transitioning to readily available timber piles. This approach reduced costs for our client, eliminated delays, and allowed crews to mobilize immediately.
With materials on hand, we installed 120 timber piles at 25 feet each in just 6 days—providing the critical support needed for the new deck and keeping the project right on schedule.
A long journey culminates in a successful demolition day at 175 F Street (aka The Vincent) in South Boston. While far from my first project, my first under the Juice Capital banner. Ultra-luxury 9-unit condominium building with elevator, off-street parking, and exclusive outdoor space coming up…things are starting to get juicy.

McGue Excavating was hired as the site work contractor and to install ductile iron piles (DIPS) at 230 Friend Street, Boston, just around the corner from T.D. Garden. This site will be home to future condominiums.
What made this project challenging? ⛏
The lot was extremely constrained, adjacent to numerous existing buildings. There were major geotechnical burdens to overcome such as structurally unsound soil conditions.
Outcome and What is Next: 🦺👷👷♀️
After completion of the load test, our team successfully installed 33 DIPS to depths of 63 to 89 feet, in under a week!
Next up for our team is foundation work and underground utilities!
