“Before Carissa, I didn’t have anyone to go to.”
Meg was 34, facing a rare cancer after months of uncertainty. Radiotherapy. Five surgeries. Lasting loss of movement in her foot. And through it all, she was raising three children - doing her best to hold everything together.
Then she met her McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Carissa. 💕
From that point on, things felt different.
Meg had someone in her corner. Someone who could guide her through the physical challenges, support her emotionally, and help her make sense of it all.
That’s how care changes lives. 💗

When Dan was diagnosed with cancer, everything suddenly felt overwhelming for him and his wife, Simone. Appointments, decisions, different specialists - they didn’t know where to start.
Months later, while watching The Pink Test, they learned the McGrath Foundation was expanding its care to all cancers.
When Dan’s cancer returned, he was connected with his McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Kelly.
“The difference in care was honestly, incredible. I don’t know how to describe it, words fail me, it’s a game changer. In fact, that doesn’t even feel big enough, it’s life changing.” Dan says.
Kelly helped guide them, coordinate care, and support them as a family, so in a moment that felt uncertain, they weren’t alone anymore.

Kirby was on maternity leave with her two young children when she found a lump while breastfeeding. Within days, she was facing a breast cancer diagnosis.
“Even as a nurse myself, it’s completely different being the patient,” Kirby says.
As treatment began, balancing her health and family life quickly became overwhelming.
Then she connected with her McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Justine. Someone to guide her, support her, and help her feel more in control.
So, she didn’t have to face it alone.
That’s how care changes lives. 💗

Living with cancer in regional Australia can bring extra challenges.
After an unexpected oesophageal cancer diagnosis in late 2024, Ian began navigating complex treatments while living more than an hour from his nearest major hospital in regional Victoria.
Throughout it all, his McGrath Cancer Care Nurse, Chelsey, has been by his side, coordinating care, offering advice, and providing a trusted point of contact from afar.
“You’re going through a pretty tough time, and having support makes it that little bit easier,” Ian says. “Just being able to pick up the phone and have Chelsey there with advice and solutions has been a huge help.” 💖
Chelsey supports people with lung and oesophageal cancer across Bendigo and surrounding regional areas, ensuring patients like Ian feel connected, supported and cared for no matter the distance.

Garden Centres of South Australia turned their spaces pink once again for the Strike Me Pink campaign, bringing their communities together for a third year of support. Tracy and the team visited several locations, seeing firsthand the care and commitment from centre.
From pink flowers to high teas, raffles, cupcake stalls, artwork auctions and jellybean guessing competitions, every contribution added up, raising over $16,000 in support of McGrath Cancer Care Nurses.
Care, like any garden, takes time, patience and nurturing. With the right support, it continues to grow and reach more people. Together, these communities are helping ensure more people facing cancer have a McGrath Cancer Care Nurse by their side.
