This little space hit 10 years old at the turn of 2026. It was an anniversary that unfolded in a wave of mechanical failures and personal dilemmas, an almost psychedelically concentrated distillate of my tenure there. I am still beyond exhausted but even in this stark economic landscape where profligacy spreads like measles while small business is perpetually choked by the sclerotic hand of a failing state the machine must be fed and the work must continue. It just needs to continue differently. Since last year I have been working with Bushwick Ayuda Mutua and Mil Mundos en Común to slowly realize a vision in which Yours Sincerely is no longer just a safe space for fucking off. I am hoping that in the very near future we’ll be announcing a material partnership that will strengthen and reify that relationship. In the meantime Bushwick Ayuda has been holding their onboardings and working group meetings at YS, and the next one is this Monday 2/23. That day also happens to be my birthday and I would like to leverage it to have you become a part of this lovely group of caring people. So if you want to celebrate with me please sign the community agreement on BAM’s website and come to the onboarding at 7pm.
What a difficult year this has been - I want to believe that something new can be harvested from the pain wrought by our power-drunk leaders. I want to internalize the great lesson of mutual aid with you, which is that we can offer something even when we don’t feel abundant.
