I𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀⁣ ⁣ This Saturday, May 16th will be the start of the transition to our summer season!⁣ ⁣ 𝗨𝗽𝘁𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘅 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁:⁣ Our Uptown Phoenix Farmers’ Market location will be moving indoors at the North Phoenix Baptist Church for the summer. We will be in the same location as previous summers. We have been busy planting for the summer season and will be looking forward to our beautiful organic heirloom tomatoes, watermelon, basil, summer squashes and cucumbers to be joining us throughout the summer months.⁣ ⁣ Come join us indoors to shop in the air conditioning.⁣ ⁣ ⁣ 𝗢𝗹𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁:⁣ This Saturday marks our last market for the season in Scottsdale… and our last market at the current location!⁣ ⁣ Coming this October the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market will be moving to a new location. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘁 𝟳𝟰𝟵𝟱 𝗘. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗻𝘇𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗪𝗮𝘆, 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝘁𝘁𝘀𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲, 𝗔𝗭 𝟴𝟱𝟮𝟱𝟭. McClendon’s Select will be found at the north end of the market along Bennie Gonzales Way, west of 75th Street.⁣ ⁣ McClendon’s Select is planning some fun things to celebrate the new location this fall. Bob McClendon loved the farmers’ markets and talking to everyone who stopped by and supported McClendon’s Select over the years. He considered those who visited the markets to be his friends. The McClendon family would like to invite all who would wish to attend to join us as we pay honor to Bob’s life.⁣ ⁣ A service will be held in his honor:⁣ ⁣ 𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝟭𝟬𝘁𝗵, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗮𝘁 𝟰:𝟬𝟬𝗽𝗺⁣ ⁣ 𝗔𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀’ 𝗘𝗽𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗵 ⁣ 𝟲𝟯𝟬𝟬 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘂𝗲 ⁣ 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝗲𝗻𝗶𝘅, 𝗔𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗮 𝟴𝟱𝟬𝟭𝟮⁣ ⁣ We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support, memories and stories shared about Bob. It is with a heavy heart and deep sadness that we share that Bob McClendon, our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law, passed peacefully this weekend. Bigger than life, Bob was as much a force of nature as he was an admirer of it. Through sheer tenacity, unrelenting curiosity and the pursuit of good health and good food he dedicated his life first to pharmaceutical medicine and then to organic farming. Constrained only by the elements and his suspenders, he took a patch of dusty desert and turned it into a bountiful paradise. Bob enjoyed nothing more than to spend his Saturdays at the farmers’ markets discussing how to prepare a squash blossom. He loved talking to customers and hearing what they were cooking. He was a true admirer of the chefs and restaurant crews who would make magic of his vegetables night after night. He respected their challenges and showed his appreciation of their hard work and dedication by matching it with his own. His favorite rewards were those he harvested from his fields. Bob found his passion and built McClendon’s Select as his labor of love. We are grateful to the community of employees, customers, chefs and friends that have become like family as he chased this dream. He was one-of-a-kind and we will forever miss his wide smile and indomitable spirit. Information and details about a funeral service to honor his life will be shared soon. McClendon’s Select will be ready for your holiday meal prep this weekend, Saturday, November 22nd, at both the Uptown Phoenix Farmers’ Market and the Old Town Scottsdale Farmers’ Market. The market right before Thanksgiving is always one of our busiest, so we urge you to come early in order to get all of the items on your list. On the Saturday following Thanksgiving, McClendon’s Select will only be at the Uptown Phoenix Farmers’ Market on November 29th. We will not be at the Scottsdale market that weekend, but invite our Scottsdale customers to come to the Uptown Phoenix location on the southeast corner of Bethany Home Road and Central Avenue.  We hope that everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday - and thank you again for your continued support of our organic farm. McClendon’s Select is excited for the start of a brand new season and the return of our fall market schedule! We will be back at both the Old Town Scottsdale and the Uptown Phoenix farmers’ markets tomorrow Saturday, October 4th. We have a huge selection of fall items that we are beginning to harvest that will be coming to both markets. Both markets will be from 8:00am to 1:00pm, but please come early as the beginning of the season is always quite busy. The Old Town Farmers’ Market in Scottsdale is held at the corner of First Street and Brown. The Uptown Phoenix Saturday Farmers’ Market is located in Phoenix on the grounds of the North Phoenix Baptist Church at Central Avenue and Bethany Home Road in the northwest parking lot. Early Hours Again This Saturday Thank you to everyone who came out to the farmers’ markets last weekend. McClendon’s Select is excited to be back at both locations for the fall. This Saturday we will have our first of the season organic Spigarello and Rainbow Chard at both markets. The weather promises to be a little cooler than last weekend, but we will still open at 7:00am so you can shop early. We look forward to seeing you on Saturday!
