I worked with a collection of your quotes, full of extremes of emotion, and in there amongst the chaos was this beautiful grounded everyday comment, “I’m in a Church In Gravesend Drinking Coffee”, which Michael McAfee has turned into an animated story built from the wider collection of quotes from where it came.

I made a lot of music with the more extreme quotes from the database, but being has as much to do with the everyday and things being ok too, so this was just as relevant a quote and experience, and something I wanted to include.
Within the song, I decided to use the sounds of me walking through forest, which is my own equivalent of the idea I thought the quote was about, but I wanted to find some similarly grounded instrumental source as well.

With Me - an audiovisual collab with @maxcoopermax
Max and I wanted to explore the idea of entities that travelled between and manipulated spacetime with this piece -- as the video progressed, the severity of the rift in space would magnify.
@vincemckelvie took the lead on the glitch scenes. Debugging artifacts and UI elements from the software we used made their way into the piece, hopefully giving the feeling that these seemingly real scenes are actually the constraints of time & space that are breaking down -- doing these segments in a videogames engine allowed us to use custom made shaders that generate feedback loops in realtime.

This piece began with my fascination of underwater flatworms -- their method of movement specifically. Looking at their profile as they swim, their flat silhouette seems to mimic an almost perfect sine wave. For such a primitive creature, they move in such an elegant and hypnotizing way. I needed to emulate this somehow.
What began as a series of cloth simulation experiments has turned into a full-blown Polymorphic piece, elevated by my frequent collaborator, @drasko_v

Developing my visual style, I've made it a point to give my pieces an illustrative aesthetic. Almost like they're drawn by hand despite being created digitally with modern tools —
I'm excited to work with Myra because it allowed me to incorporate elements that are drawn traditionally, animated frame-by-frame. You can see her animations sprinkled everywhere in this piece — in the head of the creature, the vegetation that grows in the path behind the creature, and super subtley in the environments where I used her sketches as textural elements. This extra layer helps sell the stylized look I'm going for - super happy with how it turned out. Go peep her work!

Definitely fell off my weekly cadence here — I am always struggling to find the balance between personal and professional output it seems. Weekly projects helped me dial in my skills and get my name out there - I never thought Google would be interested in working with me!
