I don't even know where to begin .. I remember being just a teenager, listening to all sorts of music. When I say that I truly mean from Classical Music to Pop, Rock but a lot of my early years were around Metal and Prog.
At some point in 1996 a friend that owned a cd shop close to my house told me "Hey Marco, have you ever listened to Angra?" .. unfortunately by that time I haven't so he handed me their second album "Holy Land" ..
I got home and started listening .. sounded very classical, yet heavy and feelings of Brasil until the song Nothing to Say came up .. and my mind was .. what is this?? One of the best intros and riffs of all time, the crazy bass playing and tones plus all the other things happening and a touch of Baiao on the drums mixed with metal and all precisely executed.
That was my introduction to this band that I came to truly appreciate that also had on his command Andre Matos (RIP) which in my own words is one of the most talented composers and vocalist of our time, hands down. The love of my life @robinalac got introduced to his work a few years back and almost every week or day I hear his rendition to "Wuthering Heights " playing in the house, even my 5 year daughter asks for it all the time.
Now, fast forward 20 years almost and we have this guy above which is a legend of Metal bass playing recording songs for a band that I have been part of since 2011? haha sorry @rafaelmacedo_wreckoftime if I messed that up.
This is nuts, to have one of your idols playing on songs that you are also part of and they will be forever around in history.
@luismariuttioficial I can't truly express how grateful and honored we all are to work with you on these songs. You are not only an amazing musician but also a fantastic human. Thank you!

Wreck of Time Announces Legendary Bassist @luismariuttioficial as Special Guest on Mind Sludge
San Francisco Bay Area progressive metal band Wreck of Time has revealed that legendary Brazilian bassist Luís Mariutti will appear as a special guest on their upcoming album, Mind Sludge, due out in March 2026.
Mariutti, widely recognized for his groundbreaking work with Angra, Shaman, and Henceforth, recorded bass on two tracks of the album, adding his signature sound and unmistakable energy to Wreck of Time’s reimagined release.
Frontman Rafael Macedo shared:
“Luís has been an inspiration to us since the very beginning. His playing on Mind Sludge took these songs to another level. Having him be part of this album is not only an honor, but also a dream come true for us.”
Mind Sludge itself carries deep meaning for the band. Originally intended as Wreck of Time’s debut album years ago, it was never properly released due to label and production issues. Now, revisited and fully re-recorded, the album finally receives the sound and production it always deserved — with Mariutti’s contribution making it even more special.
With a career spanning decades and a legacy that shaped Brazilian and international metal, Luís Mariutti’s guest appearance represents both a tribute to Wreck of Time’s roots and a bold step forward in their musical journey.
Mind Sludge is scheduled for release in March 2026. The year was 2014. One of my very first recordings that I did all by myself and online (Skype) with the support from some amazing and talented friends in Brazil. @vitormancini , @neemiasmt e @raph.rodriguesbass ...
It became the album "Reality Field" by Sigma Project. After that I kept recording and playing. I learned a lot over the years not only about recording but most importantly how to actually play while recording, tuning and so on.
This is probably the only documented picture I took from those sessions!
