Kind of surreal to finally meet a friend in person after only seeing each other on zoom calls for 1.5 years. Still hoping to meet the rest of the @soundmindmusician team someday!
Thanks for a fun weekend Chicago
In no particular order: my personal goals for the coming year, both large and small. I’ve never really spent the time to come up with resolutions in the past, but this felt like a good year to start.
Moving to a brand-new city has been harder than I anticipated. My tendency to keep to myself makes it difficult to meet people and form friendships, so I’m making an effort to work on that. Now at almost 5 months since moving, I’m starting to find my footing, and I hope to feel like I have a community in Portland by the end of 2022.
I’m also eager to reconnect with the cello this year. I’ve been practicing fairly consistently again, and playing feels pretty good most of the time. It turns out, I actually kind of like playing the cello 🤔
I’m looking forward to working on some of these goals while dreading others, but I know it will be worth the effort. And I hope that by posting them for people to see, I will feel some extra pressure to actually get them done. For example, I really need to learn how to ride a bike by the time it gets warm again…I live in Portland, of all places!
Anyway, thank you for taking some time to read this. I hope you’re all having a great start to the new year ❤️
For those of you who don’t know, I just moved to Portland last week. It’s pretty much a completely new city for me, so I have a lot of exploring and meeting people to do before I can call it a new “home,” but I’m excited to be here!
I used two of @thirdanglenewmusic ’s Soundwalks as an excuse to go see the Hoyt Arboretum and International Rose Test Garden this past weekend.
As much as I like the desert, I think I could get used to the scenery here. 🌲🌳🌹
