Sitting in the sunshine in this magical place @big_drewland . Thank you Andrew for allowing us to draw in your amazing place. It really was such a treat X
We were so lucky to spend an idyllic afternoon amongst the tulips euphorbia and cow parsley and everything. This view changes by the day in @big_drewland garden. Thank you Andrew for such a magical time XXX
A Magical Place. Thank you @big_drewland for letting The Tunnocks sit and draw and listen to your birds and nothing else. I painted this on cardboard sitting in your field surrounded by cow parsley wafting around. Such a treat. We all felt very Lucky. X
(Sorry - this is me catching up ) The last WAF Talkback with the lovely, irrepressible Imogen Tinkler. A smashing evening discussing ‘Is Photography Art’? and how that can impact on everything ! Imogen works in documentary photography ‘with a conceptual, socially grounded approach’ - we formed small groups and talked about certain images and then saw some of her images - through her eyes ! Another really enjoyable, lively evening - getting to know each other more and their work. Take a look at @imogentinkleroninsta for some really thoughtful, memorable, adorable work 👏👏👏👏 Thank you @thirtyninewhitstable for having us and lending us your sound and sight ! system 👍👏🥂🎤
Hurvin Anderson show at Tate Britain. “ Painting disrupts the apparent worth of photography “ Go and see his beautiful great big scrumptious canvases full of colour and detail - he “ adds together bits from various photos and different locations linking community to identity - where he belongs and which landscape he belongs to “ he was shortlisted for the Turner Prize in 2017 with Rosalind Nashashiba and Andrea Buttner, when Lubaina Himid won. What a show that must have been !! This is Such a brilliant show - I’m going back when I will have time to stand a stare and really take it all in.
Really lovely time with Trish Flynn and Ruth Dalzell and eight WAF’s printing without a press - using Acryluc paints on acetate and oil paint on used photocopy paper and laminated catering lids ….. you had to be there !
The Rose Wylie Show at The Royal Academy. I Love Rose Wylie. I love how she chooses just what she wants to paint and doesn’t seem to care how or what with or how many tries which she plasters on top of the bits she didn’t like first. I love that the R A has devoted so much space to show so much of her work - drawings on lined A4 paper and everything. Read the captions too. The show finishes on 19th. Go and enjoy yourself. Just sit and take it all in. Last two are the scariest backpack I’ve ever seen and my favourite London Trees in the street just outside the RA - a whole Street full of them. ( “ she’s happy, she wants to be called Arthur” was my best overheard, in the members room ) #rosewylie
Thank you Porto - we had the Best time. My favourite drinks - apart from the White Port and sodas and your amazing Red wines …. Two Sangrias - 1. Chilli and Passion fruit and 2. Lollipop. Thank you to my gorgeous fascinating endlessly funny friends - I love your easy company. XX
Vertigo in photos ! K still at least 6 feet from the balustrade needed a steadying hold to take her photo - J couldn’t get any closer than 20 feet ! (Jane remained calm.) thank you B for the brave and beautiful second photo. We didn’t stay up there long - but we made the local news pamphlet 🤣
