Today we honor a TRUE son of New Orleans! Shante Anthony Franklin, better known as Curren$y, The Hot Spitta 🔑💛⚜️🤙🏽✈️ He’s not only made his mark on Hip Hop, but continues to pour into his city through Jet Life Athletics and beyond! 🙌🏾 It was my honor to present him with the Key to the City of New Orleans!

Photo Dump: Full of connections and full-circle moments! ✨ Such a powerful few days with the Henry Crown Fellows… inspired, energized, and in great company. Grateful for the community… from Harvard Kennedy School to MIT, taking in Janet Echelman’s “Remembering the Future,” tapping into Wasalu’s class, and seeing NOLA’s own Tryisten Washington still shining 🤗🥰 Special shoutout to Nothing to See Here: Watts… and to the Watts residents, HCF Suzanne Malveaux, and Stacy Hadash for such an impactful experience. 🎬

IMMIGRANT 👇🏽👇🏽 (FOREVER NEW ORLEANS ⚜️) Today I was honored with the Key to the City, and I receive it with deep gratitude. I came to this country as an immigrant with nothing but faith and work ethic. No shortcuts. No guarantees. Just the belief that if I kept going, something good would come from it. From the very beginning, the people of New Orleans embraced me — not as an outsider, but as a brother. This city shaped me. I learned resilience, culture, and community here, and over time, I became part of the fabric of New Orleans. I see myself reflected in the shared struggles and strength of Black people in this city, and I will always be grateful for that acceptance. At a time when immigrants face fear, hate, and division, I want to say this clearly: immigrants and Black Americans have always been the backbone of this country. We work, build, create culture, raise families, and give back — often without recognition. So I accept this honor not just for myself, but for every immigrant and every Black child who’s been told they don’t belong. You do. Thank you, New Orleans, for giving me a chance. 🗝️❤️🇺🇸 . . . #neworleans #nola #504 #blingbling

When I tell you I cried like a baby. My mind was on an emotional roller-coaster. I love New Orleans and it lives in me, but I never dreamed that I a girl from a shotgun house in the 7th Ward would receive a key from my beloved city. Thank you @mayorcantrell the first woman mayor of our city. Your words about my career and place in the city moved me to tears, and @cityofnola I love the NO forever. I wish my parents and grandparents were here to see this. Now let's talk about Rice @tyrabarabino She's been advocating for me to receive this honor for Years. She was on the phone and emailing stating my case while I didn't have a clue. Her first attempt was in motion and then covid hit us. But once @mskellyprice told her that they should give me a surprise party Rice mind told her... and this is when she should receive the 🔑. It was important to have Rice right there because she kept telling me that I deserved everything that comes to me because I put in work. Thank you God. Thank you New Orleans for knowing and feeling on my life how much I love you⚜️❤️ #BiggestMamaMiaX

214 DECATUR WHERE IT’S GREATER! 💫 The end of a term, but the continuation of a legacy. We are truly honored to welcome Mayor LaToya “Teedy” Cantrell into our store. Her continued support of Black-owned businesses and the culture of New Orleans has left a lasting impact on our city. At Skeesh, we believe in supporting confidence, community, and the future—and moments like this remind us why we do what we do. Thank you, Mayor, for showing up and standing with New Orleans!
