I came back to Old Delhi after 17 yearsāmostly for the Seekh kebabs and jalebi. It was the first time Iād been without my family, but I felt them everywhere. I went to the Hindu mandir because itās what my mother and grandmother would want me to do. And then I ate street food and rode on the back of a rickshaw, which my mother will be far less pleased to hear.
Rather than tell you how Paris with a 16-month-old was, Iām just gonna leave this picture of my son on the floor of the Orsay here and let you draw your own conclusions
I ran my third marathon yesterday! The race was 42.2km across the northern towns of the Auvergne-RhĆ“ne-Alps region, through gamay vineyards, chĆ¢teaux, and barrel rooms, all to celebrate the release of Beaujolais nouveau. S/o to the live bands at each of the 16 wineries and the volunteer who handed me home-made brioche and convinced me to try the vin chaud. It was a privilege to run alongside thousands of runners from all over France (and, like, seven other foreigners), kvetch together about our mal aux pieds et mal aux genoux in the final miles, and agree, while tramping through frozen vineyards, that we were all a little crazy and very glad to have signed on for this š·
Summer/Fall ā25 was another BK residency and two wine country stints. In New York, Rai took his first steps and I fell off a bar stool for the first time, hard to say which one of us should be prouder. In Sancerre, France, the girlies found undervalued pinot noir and a wine-glass conveyer belt in the Loireās premier dive bar. In Sonoma County, California, the kiddos found savory bread pudding and learned to say āBIG TREEā and the growns were just foolish enough to run 13.1 miles of trails.
T+Lās November issue drops this week so it seemed like the exact right time to post some September and October reporting. Always a treat to talk to the talented and kind people doing capital-h Hospitality and cool-ass things in hotels. That includes ofc @dkproprietors who just opened the first @deathandcompany hotel, nbd, and @ciosoler who invested in hard-hit designers during the pandemic and turned it into a hotel boutique that even locals want to visit.
LA summer. We celebrated Rai turning 1 and Wyatt turning 35, smoked ribs, reclaimed our balcony, spent a lot of time in our friendsā pools, ordered m&m sippers, savored @addiecdavis ā last months in LA (for now), took motorized wagon rides around the neighborhood, ate pupusas every Tuesday, and tried to slow tf down. š“šāļø
Happy reopening @delcoronado !! Raiās article on the six-year, $550-million renovation is up now on @travelandleisure ā though his only words are āhi,ā āmama,ā and ādadaā so itās not the most linguistically varied piece.
