A year ago, I made one of the hardest (and best) decisions of my life: walking away from what I thought was my dream career in entertainment. For years, I pushed through exhaustion because burnout felt normal, and sometimes almost expected.
This past year has been about unlearning “the show must go on” mentality. I gave myself permission to rest, recover, and rebuild on a foundation that actually supports me. Choosing a path that works with my well-being instead of against it has opened up so much space for creativity and play.
Out of that choice came Maya B. Creative - a space for myself and other creatives to craft meaningful work, nurture ideas, and grow sustainably.
I’m proud of this first year, grateful to those who have supported me, and excited for everything still to come.
This is just the beginning. 🌱

PROJECT DEEP DIVE 🪴
Triumph: Tampa’s Untold Chapter in the Civil Rights Movement
This documentary uplifts a vital piece of Tampa’s history. Triumph tells the story of the courageous local students and community members who staged sit-ins at the downtown F.W. Woolworth lunch counter in 1960, challenging segregation and helping shape Tampa’s role in the national Civil Rights Movement.
As part of this project, we returned to the very spaces where history unfolded - inside the former Woolworth building in downtown Tampa - and traveled to Greensboro, North Carolina, where the sit-in movement began, to connect Tampa’s story to the broader movement for justice.
I served on this film as Producer / Production Manager, and also contributed as Unit Photographer, documenting both the process and the people working to preserve these stories. The project culminated in the City of Tampa issuing a proclamation declaring March 1, 2025, as “Woolworth Sit-In Anniversary Day,” honoring the 65th anniversary of the protest and the legacy of those who took a stand.
Triumph is more than a film, it’s a reminder that meaningful change is rooted locally.
