This collection was inspired by the 2chan threads from the early 00s, in which anonymous users from Japan developed characters and stories simply using a keyboard. Shift JIS became one of the most popular forms of ASCII Art and was a big representation on the impact of collaboration that was so prevalent in the early days of the internet.

“We developed an interactive game–poem inspired by Latin America, where participants construct their own version of the poem using a SNES joystick. By guiding Pac-Man to “eat” words, the text is continuously rewritten through play.
The game was developed on TouchDesigner by Mayara Stelmaschuk Melo @maymelo (coder, knitter, visual artist) and Stephanie Fernandes @ste.fern (poet, linguist, translator), both Brazilian creators based in Berlin. The idea is for the poem to convey the tensions of being an immigrant not only through the content in a poem, but through the format as well, actively implicating the reader.”

Story time: I was in Brazil when @eliza.sznajder asked me if I’d like to join a knitting project for the Oscars. WHAT?
I moved my flight asap and even thought one of the flights were cancelled, I managed to get back to Berlin on time - 4 days before the delivery of the dress.
It was such a pleasure to meet Mira, the designer from @crubaberlin and support her with the dress made out of VHS tapes from @wimwendersfoundation films.
The knitting team (@iska.oris , @conceptarche , @eliza.sznajder ) was so focused and determined to make an incredible piece for @donata_wenders and we had a great time doing it 💖
