How big are your dreams? Do they keep you up at night. Are you scared they won’t come true or scared that they will?
#MayaAndTheWave tells the story of a girl who dreamed that one day she would surf the biggest wave in the world. Her body, her mind, and society tried to stop her - but she never gave up.
@Maya Gabeira surfed the biggest wave a woman has ever surfed in Nazaré, Portugal, not once but twice.

Riding the Impossible: Maya Gabeira on Surviving and Conquering Nazaré’s Legendary Wave
Maya Gabeira holds the world record for the largest wave ever surfed by a woman. She set the record in Nazaré, Portugal, surfing a 73.5-foot wave in 2020, officially recognized by the Guinness World Records. But she was almost killed in this same location 4 years prior.
In this episode, Maya dives into her new documentary Maya and the Wave, where she recounts the harrowing experience of being taken down by one of the largest waves ever recorded off the coast of Portugal. She shares the fear, the recovery, and what it took to come back stronger, ultimately conquering that same wave and securing her place in surfing history.
