Respecting and honoring the natural world is analogous to respecting and honoring ourselves. 💫🤲🦋 I believe the inverse is also true; dishonoring and disrespecting the natural world and disregarding our individual and collective impact only serves as a deep disrespect to ourselves and our loved ones.
Your actions matter. It’s my hope that we all strive to move in this world with more awareness, love, and intent. ♾️
Every morning I take a silent walk with Luigi and spend this time asking myself, “how can I contribute today? What action can I take to make our world a better place?” Somedays the answers are clear and big and exciting. Things like “finding a way to get in the way” (to quote @crysmatthews ). And somedays, the answer is to just to be slow, breathe, smell the plants, care for myself; and that is beautiful and enough. Sharing this reminder to be gentle with yourself when needed and step up when it’s right. And always love yourself first. 🦋
⭐️13 years together⭐️
to know and love me is to know and love Luigi; my ride or die, best pal, boo boo, master splinter 🐀. Thanks to all the humans and non-humans over the years who have loved and cared for him (especially when I went on wild adventures). If you see him, wish him a happy 15th birthday too 🐾 🥰👑
My heart had been longing for water since I arrived in New Mexico, so much it was almost painful. The Middle Fork Hotspring in the Gila called me in. Stewarded by the beautiful Chiricahua, Tony.
Tony whose grandmother ran deeper into the mountains to avoid being forced on a rez. Tony who picks up odd jobs when he runs out of money but who actively chooses to spend the majority of his time in relationship with the mountains and water. Tony, who goes every Monday, without fail, to ensure the hot spring pools, that he has so tenderly built with his own back and arms and body, stay in tacked so others can feel the magic. Tony, who showed me how to sit and slow and feel the river and wind and rocks within my body, my bones, to become a part of them. Thank you, Tony. ✨
Part two: moving to action! My list:
1. Know the language in the bills so you can advocate for your specific issue and talk intelligently. 🧑🏼🏫
2. Write and call your senators (and reps) using said specific language about the issue you care about. Encourage your pals to join! 👯♂️
3. Listen to music that empowers and moves you, ie. Nina Simone, “revolution” what?!!! This helps one move through all the emotions. 🧑🏼🎤
4. Seek out and share spaces that bring you joy, especially in community. Laugh, sing, dance! 🤸🏼🕺
5. Practice kindness and love as a form of resistance. 🤗😘🫶Listen, share, grow food with others, hold hands with an elder and help them cross the street. Be the wave that lifts us all. 🌊
✨Knowledge sharing under a cottonwood✨ Please excuse the mulberry mouth and hands 🙌😊🤤If I have any info wrong, please feel free to comment or DM me— this share is just based on personal research and questioning about how our government works—an important aspect of moving towards action. Sharing is caring, eh?
Sharing a moment of deep appreciation and love for myself: I put on a pair of pants (@dovetailworkwear indigo denim stripped overalls 🙌🙌) that I haven’t worn since fall and in my pockets I pulled out calendula seeds, dog treats and a rock. It brought an incredible feeling of calm and validation that I have everything I need already and I’m on the right path— snacks for pals, a source of grounding, and seeds for planting future dreams! 🤗💫 🌼🏞️🌽 🐢 What’s in your pockets friends? Bonus hugs if you can guess the type of rock and where it’s from. ✌️
Happy 33rd Birthday to my brother, the magical being that reflects my weirdness back and makes me laugh greater than any other. Love you, Butter 🥳🥰🥹 #gobills
