Community looks out for one another
This is the only other photo from the protest I'll share online.
Basically, there was an underpass the march went through, and I saw this one guy with his phone flashlight showing an exposed access tunnel. Rather than move on with the march, I joined him and helped make sure people didn't fall in. I stood in front, flagging people if they were distracted or filming and then directing their attention to his flashlight.
It was noisy, and long, but we got many thanks from people on foot and on bike for keeping them from harm.
When the procession was mostly past, a woman came back and told us there was a scooter that we could try to block the hole with to prevent people falling in and also flag that it was dangerous. I stayed back while he ran to get it and to get we shoved it in and joined the others.

Be loud, be safe, look out for each other
We marched from City Hall, past the federal building, and around downtown. I got a lot of compliments on my sign. Even some drivers in traffic slowly read it, smiled, and honked their horns or pumped their fists.
Vibes were good, people were dancing and singing, there was a marching band, and ALMOST EVERY CAR on the freeway that saw the march honked, hollard, pumped their fists, and got so excited to see us. Passengers were leaning out their windows to film and take photos, bus drivers trucks, and sedans alike all showed love. I only saw one guy give us two middle fingers, but he was such an outlier it became comedic.
And yes I was technically in the area where pepper bombs were used. DHS agents (in gas masks) and cops (in only face shields) were blocking protestors from a parking lot at the federal building. I'm guessing they wanted to pull back or relieve the officers, but when they fell back more protesters came in off the street. Officers in the building opened the gate and a line in riot gear came out to let the officers in. But with so many people, the gate sensor prevented the gate closing (I was a good hundred or so feet back from the gate, just off the sidewalk). They threw some pepper bombs and spray into the crowd and those who didn't have masks ran. The officers threw at least three more of the pepper bombs filling the air with haze. The protestors who did have respirators kicked the pepper bombs back into the gate. After that the gate closed and people continued to check in with each other. There was still a mix of young and old in the crowd. I saw what seemed to be a grandmother and her granddaughter hacking behind me, but someone handed them N95s to help.
I left shortly after and there were still HUNDREDS of people around the lot and even more still in the street and on other sides of the building. Honestly, there may have still been almost a thousand people just at that federal building alone. Not sure about at the detention center or City Hall at that point.
Overall, it was a good day.

Halloween at @strongholdclimb ! This place holds the best events! I love that someone with an alien costume went up to the top during the Dyno event so much. Hats off to you, invader!
I did attempt the Dyno and was ASTOUNDED I landed the first hold on my second try! I .. knew the second was not gonna happen though haha. Still a blast!
And then @metalnathayes and I won the Most Creative Costume!! Hell yeah!
Honestly the best part was all the people coming up to us with nostalgia and trying to remember the name of the show and talking about Nickelodeon!
