Last weekend, my band Rush Hour with @kristofermatthew and @e_thedrumbum got together with the incredibly talented @mscedrice to rehearse and film some music. The synergy was instant. Looking forward to doing more with this wonderful group of musicians. The song is “I Choose You” by Cedrice. Also, shout out to @skyplaysbass for capturing the rehearsal with his pro video skills and services.
Hello friends, I’d like to introduce you to my new bass, Choko. She plays and sounds amazing. #ibanez really knocked it out of the park with this instrument. The model is Ibanez Mode MDM1606. I plan to post many more videos featuring Choko. In this video you can hear @shimon_drum and @rufusbordal as well.
This beautiful instrument arrived yesterday. It is the new Ibanez Mode MDM 1606. It’s an exciting new active jazz bass from Ibanez. It’s lightweight with an even, full bodied sound and great playability. Videos soon to follow.
Fuuusion baby! This sick track was composed by the great bassist Melvin Lee Davis and titled “Lyle Mays” after the extraordinary jazz pianist. I also transposed the track up an octave 🙃
The sweetest bass solo you’ll hear today on IG. Performed with #thesotosix at the Hangar 76 in Oceanside. The song is Tell Me A Bedtime Story by jazz maestro Herbie Hancock.
A little Herbie Hancock to get your day going. This song, Actual Proof, features drummer Mike Clark’s funky syncopated drumming. I did my best to do justice to the great Paul Jackson’s bass work.
While at Berklee, I was in a great band called Karamel Day with my friends Dana Protsenko, Ryo Konishi, Kazuhiro Odagiri, and Elin Lee. We made great music together, playing lots of contemporary jazz tunes, such as this one by Gretchen Parlato (song title “Weak”). I have many fond memories of this band.
Bobby Caldwell had one of the most amazing voices in pop and RnB music. He wasn’t as well known as other singers, but was in a league of his own with his tone and delivery. I hope I did this song justice.
