Slide 8 I found a random still on Pinterest and I couldn’t figure out movie the still came from. Some searches say it’s The Leopard Man or The Seventh Victim by Val Lewton or one of his many horror movies. Asap Rocky’s HIGHJACK music video, directed by Thibaut Grevet @thibautgrevet also played a role in this. The stills, the use of lighting & shadow. I definitely maximized the use of textures to make sure the images don’t come out flat. Especially when it comes to the model’s hair and hair texture, needed to make sure that stood out. Jewelry and grillz played another roll, I’ve recently found a new love for jewelry especially grillz and how unique they can be. So I pulled some inspirations from random sightings of people with grillz, images that highlighted people’s creative grillz and shots from the book I’ve Box: A Hip Hop Jewelry History.
