My father spent his life helping people to see. He had a rare gift of sight: sharp like a bayonet and soft like a paintbrush. He was incandescent. He made me laugh harder than anyone else on the planet. He was the definition of hardworking. He was endlessly dedicated. He was infinitely stubborn.
I will spend the rest of my life turning over river stones in my mind, revealing things I wish I would have said to him. But there is more water than stone, and he helped me see that it's beautiful, it's full of life, and it never stops moving.
