São Paulo 🇧🇷
I’ve been utterly obsessed with MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) since I was 17 YO, my final vocal exam at music college was an interpretation of Antonio Carlos Jobim’s “Desafinado”, I’ve heard every João Gilberto album at least 30 times 🤣 Jorge Ben changed my approach to syncretism and I even named my 2nd album after one of the songs on his best album (IMO) “A Tábua de Esmeralda”
My first visit to this incredible place needed to be as special as my love for it’s culture, I got the fortune to bring over my band and play at the superb
@goptun festival, we welcomed the sunset on a perfect Sunday evening, what a gig!
Of course I spend countless hours and days digging for all the rare gems I could find on all those classic record stores of SP, I almost got all of Chicó Buarque’s collection, a couple more Tim Maia’s for the personal shelves, João Bosco, Elis Regina, Di Melo, the 2nd original pressing of João Gilberto’s self titled and a Martino da Vila.
Anyway, what an absolute joy was to finally get my ass to that piece of heaven on earth, I can’t wait to be back soon!
Special shout out to
@nascii @caiotaborda and all the crew for inviting us to play, I hope we can successfully make some other surprises happen soon enough 😉
Last but not least, to my band, the best out there!
