Thinking about Dan Wall today. This is his tune ‘Song for the night’. Thank you Dan for impacting so many of us in such profound ways… I feel like I’m still coming back to the stuff he was teaching us in improv all these years later.

Max Schlenk is an emerging artist in the Northeast Ohio region. A Cleveland native, Max attended Shaker Heights High School, where he studied under professional musicians Ken Leegrand and Chris Burge. After being accepted into the Oberlin Conservatory, he studied with saxophonist Gary Bartz and was a featured performer in St. Thomas at the 2020 JEN (Jazz Education Network) Conference. After living in NYC briefly in 2023, he now works as a full-time freelance artist, teaching at The Music Settlement as a J@MS faculty member and as a private music instructor throughout the NEO area. He continues to pursue his interests as both a sideman and bandleader, with plans to record his original music this year.
